Our Addiction

Welcome to our addiction. "Bear and Ting" is also our handle or caching name on Geocaching.com and it's forums. Geocaching (pronounced 'geo cashing') is a high trek treasure or scavenger hunt that a friend of our, Roy, turned us on to. Players hide caches anywhere around the world (as of August, 2004, there are caches hidden in over 200 countries). Once hidden, they record to location of the object using a GPSr (Global Positioning Satellite receiver) in the form of Latitude and Longitude on the geocaching web site. Once posted, it is a challenge for others to go out and find this item. If the cache is a normal cache and the hunting player finds it, they sign the log book and rehide it for the next person to find.

Caching had taken us to many places we our have never seen, like the world largest butterfly avery in Boca Roton, Fl, or the black sand beaches on Maui, or Easby Abbey (the ruins of a 12 century Abbey in England). Where will geocaching take you?
